6 Things to Help You Work More Efficiently

Are you always wondering why others get so many things done, while you are never able to accomplish what you planned for? Here are some tips that can help you on how to increase your productivity at work:
# 1 – Declutter your workspace.
Can you really afford to waste time in looking for things over and over again? Thus, keep your desk and drawers tidy at all times, so that you always instantly find what you need. Realise what is important to keep and where it needs to be placed and what can be thrown.
# 2 – Create a to-do list.
It’s important to plan every day ahead and to note down what tasks need to be completed. Put the most important tasks at the top so that those get most likely completed. If you are not able to tick all of them off, tackle them the next day. But always remain realistic in what can be achieved in one day and what not.
# 3 – Remove any kind of personal distractions.
Observe on a daily basis what distracts you the most during your working hours. Is it constantly checking your emails and social media accounts? Is it other work colleagues who drop in to your office without notice and start a conversation? Is it surfing on other non-job related websites? Or something else? Try to focus on your to-do list and get things done. Use your break times to mingle and network with others. When it comes to checking your emails and social media accounts, remember that if you check and reply to them only once a day at a set time, you will be more productive.
# 4 – Break big projects into small sized tasks.
If you need to work on a big project split the tasks into smaller parts. Let’s say you have to hold a presentation that requires you a lot of research, preparation and rehearsal. If every day you do a bit, you will complete the big presentation step by step and you will not feel overwhelmed at the beginning.
# 5 – Delegate some tasks.
Not everyone might be able do this but delegating some smaller, repetitive tasks to other colleagues would free up more of your time. You would be able to focus on more strategic relevant tasks instead. Consider asking your boss if you can delegate some tasks to others.
What’s the last tip that can help you to find out how to work more efficiently?
# 6 – Make lifestyle changes.
Make sure you have enough sleep, you have a healthy diet, you are always in a positive mood and you do some exercise. All this will help to be more concentrated, satisfied and happy at your workplace. At the end of the week or month don’t forget to reward yourself with a little treat to keep yourself always motivated.
Remember, if you apply the right habits you will be able to work more efficiently. How to work more efficiently also means learning how to make the most out of every single minute in a day. Give your full attention to the most important challenges first and you will notice that it will not just increase your productivity and impress your boss, but you will also get this feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction at the end of the day.
